Change to programme and venue

To speak at our first indoor meeting of the Society since March 2020, we now have Stuart Orme, bringing us “Georgian Peterborough”. The Georgian period is a neglected part of Peterborough’s past, overlooked by nearby Stamford. Stuart will reveal how the town was not quite the backwater we might expect and will show us some of our surviving and missing Georgian buildings. We will hear how Peterborough ended up on a ‘Grand Tour’, attracted one of the country’s best-known artists and why bells saved the local MP’s life.

We also have a change of venue, as our usual one is unavailable. We will be meeting at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church, Ledbury Road, Netherton, Peterborough PE3 9RF.

We are taking a responsible approach to meeting face to face and will be following protocols to minimise Covid risk. We have made the difficult decision that this meeting will be for members of the Society only.

Please do get in touch, if you would like to enjoy the benefits of membership; we look forward to welcoming you.
