December Meeting 2023

What a great end to the year for Peterborough Local History Society! Our December meeting certainly concluded the programme for 2023 with interesting facts, fun and food!
Philippa Massey entertained us with “Christmas: the midwinter festival’s different traditions, from pagan times to today”. Philippa looked at how people decorated and celebrated, how they ate and what they bought, how they entertained and how they cared for people.
Our members entered into the festive spirit of the evening – just a pity there was no prize for the best Christmas outfit – perhaps another year…
The evening concluded with our annual Christmas Social, with tea and coffee served by our Christmas tea ladies (with a little help from Rudolph) and festive fare provided by members and enjoyed by all – not least the wonderful contribution we were able to make to the Peterborough Light Project, afterwards
