Peterborough Dwellings September 2023
For our September meeting, we were promised a visual trip around our city, looking at places people have called home and that’s certainly what we had!
It was the first meeting back indoors for our autumn/winter session, following our very successful summer visits. Our chairman, Trevor Pearce, was born in our fine city and is proud to call himself a Peterborian.
Trevor gave us an insight into the varied dwellings Peterborough once had, together with those still standing today. From the Bishop’s palace to the “yards”, which contained houses built very close to the river and susceptible to flooding.
From the city’s first block of flats to the house that “got in the way” when the A47 was widened and was literally moved. Trevor certainly gave us a most enlightening evening.
